This color combination has been very successful for me, especially fishing in deep water during the summer doldrums. I have landed many big trout on the same battered fly. it worked even better after it lost most of one of its "eyes", making an erratic action on the stripped retrieve Other times it does not work at all, but is now my go to when the fishing is slow.
