ReelFlies® Dark Brown Spinner

The ReelFlies® Dark Brown Spinner imitates an adult mayfly lying spent on the water after mating and laying its eggs. With its dark brown body and outstretched wing profile, it presents the easy meal trout look for during a spinner fall.

Spent mayflies lie flush with the surface, often gathering in gentle currents, slicks, and eddies. Trout can feed on them with quiet, subtle rises, making a carefully placed cast and a natural drift especially rewarding.

Fish the Dark Brown Spinner over rising trout or through feeding lanes where spent insects collect. Match the size of the naturals and allow the fly to drift freely, watching closely for a sip or a small disturbance around your fly.

Key Features

Spent mayfly imitation: Represents the final stage of the adult mayfly’s life cycle.

Dark brown body: A useful option for matching spinner falls of darker mayflies.

Outstretched wing profile: Creates the recognisable silhouette of a spent insect resting on the surface.

Spinner fall pattern: Well suited to gentle runs, slicks, and eddies where trout gather to feed.

Presentation tip: Use a drag free drift and watch for subtle takes. Apply floatant sparingly to preserve the fly’s low surface presentation.
